This survey is conducted to determine the technical suitability of all vessels proposed to be hired for the transport and / or dealing in crude oil and products carried in bulk. Vessels are verified regarding marine safety criteria and with the Vetting policy of a particular company in terms of risk mitigation concerning pollution, explosions and various accidents.
The P&I Club requires vessels to be surveyed to ensure these meet the standards for safety, construction, seaworthiness, cargo worthiness, crew management, and vessel management. The P&I Club will normally require a survey on the vessel within 30 to 60 days after initial coverage, depending on the terms and conditions established by the Underwriting Firm.
Survey of vessels undertaken either before the vessel is delivered to a charter or after its delivery. The survey report includes a detailed description of vessel’s cargo spaces/ deck areas, structural condition, cargo space cleanliness, bunkers onboard, listing of vessel’s statutory certificates, securing equipment, amongst others. The purpose of the survey is to determine the extent of any damage, other than the wear and tear.
Bunker surveys are used to certify quantities of petroleum onboard vessels and/or barges before and after bunkering, according to the procedures of API MPMS chapter 17.1. Bunker Surveys are carried out for DELIVERY and RE-DELIVERY of vessels, for loss control and supervision of loading and discharging of petroleum products by tankers or barges.
The pre-purchase survey is a detailed inspection followed by a formal report based on all significant aspects of the vessel, with special attention on the hull condition. The survey will also cover the vessel's mechanical, electrical and fuel installations and is intended to provide enough information to assist the client in reaching a purchase decision.
Our valuation services are utilized by the banking, legal and insurance industries to determine market value of vessels based on the analysis of a specialized and independent entity.
